July 20, 2024. News to the end of day

The Biden administration has announced that air defense missiles produced in the coming months, primarily Patriot and NASAMS, will be sent to Ukraine as a priority. Deliveries to countries other than Taiwan and Israel will be delayed until a later time, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said. He did not specify how long Ukraine will enjoy this priority, but American media sources say 16 months.

Vladimir Putin, in a conversation with Russian journalists, said that the participation of North Korean combatants (Russian agencies called these hypothetical soldiers “volunteers”) in the war in Ukraine was not discussed during his visit to Pyongyang, he himself did not ask for it and the DPRK leadership did not propose it.

Putin also said that the preconditions for the start of ceasefire negotiations with Ukraine, which he called June 14, could change depending on the situation on the ground.

Representatives of the South Korean president said on Thursday that in response to the Russian-North Korean “mutual defense” agreement signed the day before, Seoul could begin direct arms supplies to Ukraine. Putin responded to this in absentia that “this would be a very big mistake,” threatening “decisions that are unlikely to please the current leadership of South Korea” (this can also be interpreted as a hint at the political weakness and unpopularity of South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol).
